A couple of days ago renowned Marathi author Vishwas Patil had filed a lawsuit in Bombay high court against Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming release ' Panipat' starring Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. In the plea, he had accused the producers of adapting his 1988 book of the same name without his consent.
According to the latest updates, reportedly, today the Bombay high court has refused to grant interim relief in a plea by Vishwas Patil against the Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon starrer. Hence, the film has got clearance for the December 6 release.

As per the buzz, the Single Judge Bench of Justice S C Gupte refused to grant the relief. He stated that depicting Maratha warriors in a positive light is not copyright-able. Also, the complainant can’t just walk up to the court and say that he has an apprehension.
Patil's request of having a private screening of the film before its release has also been rejected.

Meanwhile, recently while talking about the ongoing matter filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar denied the accusation made by the Marathi author. He said that he never takes content from novels while making a historical film and his film is based on historian and author TS Shejwalkar’s book.

The film is based on the third battle of Panipat that took place between the Marathas and the army of Afghan king Abdul Shah Abdali.

Apart from Arjun and Kriti, the film also features Suresh Oberoi, Mohnish Bahl, Zeenat Aman, and Padmini Kolhapure.

It is set to lock horns with the comedy-drama 'Pati Patni Aur Woh', starring Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Pandey on December 6.
